Riding the Bus (on moving the Williams Park Bus Interchange)

The Director of Transportation for St. Petersburg (Joe Kubicki - 727 892 5274) is charged with finding an alternate site for the Williams Park Interchange and this is partially funded with Federal Dollars. They are currently at the beginning phase of this project, which is to identify all of the possible sites within approximately one half mile radius of Downtown St. Petersburg. All possible sites must be identified and they must not be in any ranked order (per the federal mandates associated with the funding).

They new interchange will be similar to the PSTA interchange at Central and 32nd Street.

This list of sites will be given to a consulting group (to follow the selection protocol handed down from Washington) who will then make an evaluation and eventual recommendation to the city. It is expected that this process will take about six months. However, it is also expected that some sites will quickly be removed from consideration as the consultants make progress.

This is good news for property owners near Williams Park.
